The
advanced class is designed to suit those who have previous experience
in fly tying. Most of those who complete the beginners class progress
to this group in the following session. The programme here is
based around "themes", which may be fly types such as traditional
wets or nymphs or could be based on specific styles, techniques or
materials, for example split-wing flies, muddlers, or applications of
new synthetics.
Each theme usually lasts
three or four weeks, with a new pattern being
introduced each week. The week following the theme is devoted to tying
two of the patterns for entry to a competition "league". A shield is
awarded for
the overall winner at the session end and prizes are given to the three
best tyers. |
